Background

Growing up, I was always around water. We spent summers at the river and I was on the swim team at Alta Loma High School in Alta Loma, CA. It was in high school that I started teaching swim lessons and became certified. After high school, I worked for the City of Rancho Cucamonga for 8 years managing their swim program. As soon as I had my own home, we put in a pool and 26 years ago I began Rancho Swim Lessons. When my kids started school, I worked in several different capacities at Central School District so that I could stay close to my kids and also do what I love…to work with children.

Philosophy

Teaching is a passion, not a job. I want kids to enjoy swimming and be able to save their own life by being a safe swimmer. In the process, they develop faster swim skills and become more confident swimmers. I want kids to feel loved in the process and give them the knowledge they need in the water so it’s not scary anymore.

Personal

My family includes my husband, Dave, son Noah (26), and daughter Sage (24). As a family we love to camp, surf, and ride bikes at the beach as many times a year as we can. My son Noah was a coach for Foothill Water Polo club while attending college and playing Water Polo. My daughter Sage played Varsity Water Polo at Rancho Cucamonga High School  for 4 years and was on the Swim team for 3 years. Sage has since graduated from the University of LaVerne where she played Water Polo for 4 years

About Rene

As an undergraduate, I studied fine art. I love to be artsy and have also begun teaching myself the art of photography. I enjoy taking pictures of my two kids and their teams at their swim and water polo events. I volunteer a great deal of my time to my kids’ activities. They are my main priority. I love that we can spend so much time together hanging out now that they are older. We certainly have a special bond that I cherish. They too share my lifelong love of water!
